Of course. Starting from scratch is actually the best way to learn the basics correctly from the start, which will save you so much time, money, and tears later on!

To find out, I recommend you do these 3 things:

1. Go to the website menu and click "italian levels". Here you can learn about what grammar and vocabulary abilities are expected at each of the 6 levels.

2. On that same page, scroll down and click on "take exam". It is completely free and you get instant results. This will give you an indication on whether you are closer to beginner or intermediate.

3. Book a free 30-minute video call with me to go through your experience and I will ask you some questions to better understand your level and knowledge gaps.

I mostly teach online. I do, however, occasionally consider face-to-face tuition requests on an individual basis. If you require in-person tuition, please get in touch. Workshops can be either online or face-to-face around the North West of the UK.

Actually... No!

If a student:

• Is below B2 level (upper intermediate) but wants to learn by talking;

• Only wants to learn in the lesson without doing the exercises;

• Just wants to practice their speaking without being corrected;

• Does not want to learn grammar but just sentences to say on holiday;

Then no, unfortunately I would not take them on. ITALIQUE is a comprehensive learning program with some core principles that would be negated by the points above. Main ethos are "Do it Once, Do it Right", and "Correctness over Speed".

In my experience, there is huge variation in the minimum time commitment required to move forward.

One of the main factors affecting your commitment is your level.

If you are a beginner (A1-A2 level), you really cannot afford to do less than 1 hour with me and 1 hour by yourself each week. Especially at A1 level, if you skip one or two weeks, you will most likely have to re-do your last lesson as you will remember very little. The structure is not there yet so you have nothing to fall back on.

The other important factor is how long you have been with me for.

If you have been my student for a long time and have absorbed my method and system, you can even disappear for 6 months and come back, we will still pick up where we left off thanks to our shared framework.

So, if you are new to ITALIQUE and are below B2 level, aim to set aside at least 1 hour with me and 1 hour doing exercises and vocab.
